Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert has recorded the fastest time in today’s V8 Supercars practice sessions for this weekend’s NP300 Navara Winton SuperSprint.

Driver his Pepsi Max Crew Ford FG X Falcon, Mostert recorded a 1:23.0150 in the day’s second one-hour session, topping the overall times from James Moffat (Nissan Motorsport Nissan Altima) and James Courtney (Holden Racing Team Holden VF Commodore).

Scott McLaughlin, David Reynolds, Fabian Coulthard, Shane Van Gisbergen, Michael Caruso, Lee Holdsworth and Craig Lowndes completed the top 10.

The support categories were also on track for practice today; in the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series it was points leader Cameron Waters (Ford Falcon) who set the pace ahead of Jack Le Brocq and Andrew Jones after two 40-minute sessions.

John Bowe started his transition from Ford to Holden on a bright note, topping both practice sessions aboard the Dunlop Super Dealers/Wilson Security Torana SL/R 5000. Gavin Bullas (Ford Mustang) and Andrew Miedecke (Chevrolet Camaro) were second and third on combined times from the two sessions.

The Kerrick Sports Sedans were on track for a single practice session, and unsurprisingly it was eight-time Champion Tony Ricciardello who recorded the fastest time in his Alfa Romeo GTV, ahead of Colin Smith (Holden Monaro) and Peter Beninca (Alfa Romeo GTV).

The Australian Sports Racer Series were on track for practice in the morning and qualifying in the afternoon, with last year’s series runner-up Roger I’Anson kick-starting his title campaign with a strong pole position, 0.6s faster than fellow West driver Aaron Steer. Mark Laucke drove his new West WX10 RS to third position.

The fine and sunny weather is forecast to continue when the on-track action resumes tomorrow with Race 1 for the Sports Racers at 8:30am, see the full program below.
