Expendables Team Wins 24 Hours of Lemons

The Expendables team has taken out the 2016 24 Hours of Lemons Winton event on the weekend, a two-day endurance marathon for cars costing no more than $999.

The drivers Larry Merrifield, Mark Cravino, Harley Phelan, Peter Phelan, John Theodoru and Ken Hastings completed a total of 416 laps over the two days – that’s 1,248km.

They won by five laps from the Merconroids team (Mercedes Benz) with Rusty Pug Racing (Peugeot 305) coming in third.

The Winton Angels girls (Yvette Campbell, Sarah Ackerly, Bec Owens, Michelle King and Sharon Laurie) finished seventh overall, completing 339 laps – their Ford Falcon ran consistently over the two days and all the girls had a blast. They also raised a significant amount of money for charity which will be announced shortly.
