Winton Gears Up for Celebration of Historic Motoring

IMGP3770_webWinton Motor Raceway will celebrate some of the most iconic motor vehicles of the last century when Historic Winton roars into life this weekend, 30-31 May.Conducted by the Austin 7 Club with assistance from the Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria, Historic Winton is now into its 39th year and will feature more than 400 cars and motorbikes, from the 1920s through to the 1980s.Historic Winton racing and regularity events are conducted on the 2.03km Winton Club Circuit (the original Winton layout), while spectators will also be entertained by a number of trackside displays.This year’s Historic Winton event celebrates a number of anniversaries, including:100 years - Morris Cowley90 years - Ford Australia, Chrysler, Invicta80 years - Talbot Lago, Morris 870 years - MG TC, Bristol, Riley RM60 years - Peugeot 403, Fiat 600, Triumph TR3, Citroen DS19, Jaguar Mk1, Sunbeam Rapier, MGA, Mercedes Benz 190 SL, Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, Karmann Ghia, Toyota Crown50 years - XP Falcon, HD Holden, Peugeot 204, Renault 16, Triumph 1300 The trackside displays will include:

  • Shannons Classic Car Park featuring car and bike clubs
  • FordFest honouring 90 years of Ford Australia and featuring vehicles produced here between 1925 and 1980
  • Australian Grand Prix Aussie Specials
  • Historic Motorbikes: the Big 3 - Triumph, Harley-Davidson and Indian
  • Historic Commercial Vehicles
  • Spectator access to the Competition Paddock with fabulous old racing machines on open display

 Historic Winton will also be complemented by the Benalla and District Classic Car and Motorbike Tour, commencing at the Benalla Art Gallery on Friday morning, 29 May, at 10:00am.Spectator admission is $25 for Saturday, $35 for Sunday and $50 for a two-day pass. A competition paddock pass is available for an additional $5, and children 16 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.Camping for Historic Winton is also available.
