Winton Motor Raceway Pty Ltd is pleased to announce Wayne Williams has been appointed as the venue’s new operations manager.

Mr Williams is well-known as a successful team owner in the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series; at its peak, his Williams Race Tech operation campaigned a total of nine entries during a single season.

Prior to his V8 Ute exploits, Mr Williams also managed teams in the Bathurst 12 and 24-hour endurance races.

Mr Williams comes to Winton with a wealth of business experience, having successfully run his own businesses in the Corowa area, and his passion for motorsport is long-standing – he started competing in speedway events when he was 15 years old.

Winton Raceway CEO, Brian Pearson, said Mr Williams’ love of motor-racing and knowledge of the sport will make him a valuable asset to the Winton team.

“The directors of Winton Raceway believe ‘Wayne was an outstanding candidate for the operations manager role’, and he comes to us highly recommended,” Mr Pearson said.

“Wayne’s involvement in the high-profile V8 Ute Racing Series has allowed him to establish networks which will greatly assist him in the day-to-day management of Winton’s operations.

“We are excited about utilising Wayne’s skills as part of the new Winton team; he will generate fresh ideas which will enable us to continue running professional motorsport events at club, state and national levels, as well as maintaining the facility to first-class standards.” Mr Pearson said.

Mr Williams is enthusiastic about the challenge of his new position.

“I’m very much looking forward to working at Winton Raceway,” Mr Williams said.

“It will be an exciting challenge to encourage more competitors to race at Winton, and more customers to make use of Winton’s facilities.

“The circuit has a lot of potential to grow and thrive, and I’m really positive about what the future holds.”

Mr Williams will commence his new role at Winton Raceway in late January, ahead of the first race meeting of the year, the Champion of Winton event on Sunday, 15 February.

Other major race meetings at Winton in 2015 include Easter Car Mania (3-6 April), the V8 Supercars (15-17 May), Shannons Nationals (12-14 June), Festival of Speed (8-9 August), Performance Car Mania (17-20 September), Super Truck Nationals (26-27 September), Valvoline Winton 300 (7-8 November) and HQ 4 Hour (5-6 December).
