Supercars Super Test updates 19th February

0650 – Going to be a cracking day ahead, fine sunny 32 degrees at Winton Raceway today for what is the Victorian Teams only chance before the season opener next weekend at Bathurst.  All teams except BJR bumped in last night so we should get away on time for an 9:00 kickoff.

0720 – Wintons new Ford Raptor recovery vehicles are at the ready

0800 – The horses are in the stables, welcome back to Tim Slade!

0805 – BJR are here, cars look great in the natural  light for what should be a strong season ahead.

0900 – The cars have hit the track after a slight delay.  New liveries look outstanding, teams have done a great job for the new season. (photo Optikal)

0930 – Reynolds in the new Kelly Grove Mustang sets an early benchmark with a 1:20.0714, 2 100ths ahead of Scott Pye. (photo Optikal)

1040 – Wil Brown in his debut fulltime drive in the series is the first into the 19’s with a 1:19.508.  24 laps from the young rookie.

1120 – Top 3 as the track starts to warm up in the clear skies

Brown (36 laps) 1:19.5089

Reynolds(29 laps) 1:20.0714

Pye (60 laps) 1:20.0987

1300 – After a lengthy time with major changes to the Penrite Mustang, Reynolds is back out circulating.  So far the car has only completed 37 laps, by far the fewest.  The Tickford car with James Moffat currently at the wheel has just completed its 88th lap.

1400 – session has been red flagged.  Problem with the Boost Mobile Tickford car of James Courtney at Turn 6.  Appears to be a problem with a wheel.

1425 – after a short delay, a wheel nut has been found and the session has resumed

1630 – Happy hour has begun.  Chaz has moved to second, still half a second behind the early morning time of Will Brown.  6 cars on the track as the temperature drops.

Jack Smith improves on his 78th lap of the day – 1:20.541

Chaz just going back on track, temperature has definitely dropped with some added cloud cover.

With the improvements in the track, in particular turns three and four there is a steady belief that times are four tenths quicker than the 2019 layout.

10 minutes to go.  Browns time was set on his 20th lap of the day.  he has now done 97 laps and looks like he is happy with the days work

The Ned entry of Andre Heimgartner has had a very quiet day.  only 64 laps for the day.  The two Kelly Grove Mustangs have done the least amount of miles today.. Just 74 for Reynolds who is still out on track.

No one really challenging the Erebus car #9.  The 99, with Kostecki behind the wheel at the moment in 5th so a solid day for the Erebus team that went through so many changes during the summer.

Chequered flag out, day is done.
