The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship returns to the nation’s action track, Winton Motor Raceway on 19-21 May… and this year there’s something for everyone.
The feature races of the weekend will be Races 9 and 10 of the Supercars – Race 9 will be held over 40 laps on Saturday, while Sunday will feature a 67 lap marathon for Race 10. It will be the first time the Supercars have raced at Winton on the new Supersoft tyre, and there are plenty of storylines to follow, including the rivalry between the up-and-coming DJR Team Penske outfit and the long-time powerhouse Red Bull Holden Racing team.
The Supercars will be supported by four national categories, each with a different flavour. Cars and stars of the past will battle it out in the fan-favourite Touring Car Masters Series, while the V8 Utes will now continue to the end of the season, and will put on their typically crowd-pleasing entertainment.
Older V8 Supercars will compete in the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series, and the national Formula Ford Series makes its first appearance on the Supercars support program since 2013, allowing stars of the future to demonstrate their skills in front of Supercar team owners.
Last year’s Winton event attracted some of the largest crowds in recent history and they all loved the off-track experience as much as the on-track racing – so everyone’s favourite attractions are back for 2017.
Families will be able to head to the arena where they will be treated to children’s amusements, live band performances, the chance to grab the latest Supercar team merchandise, and a food court offering up a variety of gourmet options.
In between races there will be plenty to watch as well, including some tyre-shredding burnout demonstrations.
With such a mouth-watering combination of on-track entertainment and off-track delights, the 2017 Winton Supercars SuperSprint is not to be missed, so grab your tickets now at www.wintonraceway.com.au!
