Wangaratta driver Matt Thewlis has started his 2015 V.E.K. Tools Pulsar Challenge campaign in fine style, winning all three races at yesterday’s Champion of Winton meeting.

Thewlis was challenged for victory by series newcomer Dimitri Agathos in Race 1, but Agathos slipped down the order in Race 2, allowing Graeme Heath into second place.

Agathos recovered to again finish second in Race 3, also finishing second for the round ahead of Graeme Heath, Josh Heath and Gene Alexander.

Joel Heinrich experienced a tough weekend with DNFs in two of the three races, while Albury driver Ross Wilson suffered an engine failure in qualifying.

Greg Jones won the Super TT round with victories in the first two races aboard his Ford EF Falcon Future Tourer, but reigning Champion Stephen Harrison gained the ascendancy in Race 3 to take the win in his V8-powered BMW E36 3 Series.

Daniel Zandt (Mini Cooper S) and Brendan Woods (Toyota Corolla) battled for the final podium position with Zandt eventually prevailing.

In the Victorian Excel Racing Series, it was David Bailey who took overall honours in the non-championship round, winning all three races ahead of Adam Bywater.
