Members of the public will be treated to a special opportunity to drive their car around the nation’s action track, Winton Motor Raceway at a Fun Day being held this Saturday, 11 July.

Anyone over the age of 16 is able to drive the track under controlled conditions, while there will also be passenger sessions where anyone over 14 years old is able to ride as a passenger.

All cars must be either roadworthy or raceworthy, and will undergo safety inspections to ensure brake lights and seat belts are working, there are no loose objects in the cabin, and an effective muffler is fitted.

All participants – drivers and passengers – are required to wear a helmet that complies with current Australian standards, along with non-flammable clothing covering wrist to neck to ankles and enclosed shoes.

Gates open at 8:00am with scrutineering commencing at 8:15am. There will be a compulsory driver’s briefing at 9:30am, with the on-track activity to commence immediately afterwards.

Cost for the day is just $50 per participant (driver or passenger) and this is a rare opportunity to experience the thrill of driving around a racetrack under controlled conditions.

For more information and frequently asked questions, please visit the Fun Day page on the Winton website.

The Fun Day will be followed by Round 3 of the BP Midland/Pedders “No Bull” Sprint Series on Sunday, 12 July, with official timing for those who want to test themselves against the clock.
