High-End Exotic Cars on Display at Winton Festival of Speed

Momentum continues to gather for next weekend’s Winton Festival of Speed, but it’s not only the on-track racing which is capturing the attention from motoring enthusiasts from all over Victoria.

Interest is also building for the Shannons Show and Shine trackside car display, which has grown into an integral attraction at the Festival of Speed since the event started in 2010.

This year’s classic carpark is set to raise the level of presentation to new heights; more than 190 vehicles will be on display, representing different eras of Australian and international motoring.

At the oldest end of the scale, 2016 marks 100 years of Isuzu, and a number of historic commercial vehicles from the Japanese manufacturer will be on display.

At the other end of the spectrum, the brand-new Lamborghini Murcielago will make an appearance, as will a number of Ferraris and other high-end exotic cars.

In between will be a selection of beautifully-presented cars spanning many continents.

Fans of American muscle will be catered for by Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes, while those who prefer European or British machinery can admire the Mercedes, Jaguars, Citroens, Austins and MGs in the carpark.

Of course, there are those who are more satisfied by home-grown product and they will be able to salivate over classic Holdens, Fords and Valiants.

All cars in the Shannons Show and Shine will be eligible for prizes, which will be presented for several different categories including best-presented, people’s choice and best car in a particular category.

The cars will also have an opportunity to participate in parade laps around Winton, behind the Safety Car, on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event.

For those who have a car suitable for display at the event, it is not too late to enter – interested car owners can contact the Shannons Show and Shine co-ordinator, Richard Williams on 0413 247 817.

The Winton Festival of Speed will be held on 5-7 August; entry is free on Friday, $30 for Saturday, $35 for Sunday or $50 for a weekend pass. Children under 16 are free and race programs are $5.00, or free with admission.
